Ukraine has a large number of media outlets. Most of Ukraine’s media outlets are privately owned but there are ones owned and/or controlled by Ukraine’s central or local authorities. The largest national-level media outlets are part of a few large media groups controlled by local oligarchs. Also, there are several independent media outlets that generally offer more balanced views. About two dozen Ukraine’s media outlets – online and printed newspapers and magazines – offer English-based content. Many local cable TV providers offer a few foreign TV channels.
